Short and Sweet…

April 19, 2010

Just got done playing Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, the college I graduated from in 2005. Super fun show and general goodtimes had by all. I know I sound like a hippy, but it rubs off on you when you’re surrounded by it, like being racist and from the south. Besides all the kombucha and organic fruit in the world can’t fix what New York has broken in me. I remember a mere five years ago being just a little more awkward, and thinking I was the master of my universe from that little city, commuting my entire senior year to do an open mic ninety miles south. It’s no star homecoming, but fun looking back, especially with the nostalgia of good friends and food at Boundary Bay Brewery, a laidback warm spring evening watching the sunset over its namesake and the San Juans beyond. If I keep this up, I’m gonna grow a beard and lose my shoes. You’ll see me at a banjo get together in twenty years. Quick I better hate something before the West swallows me fat and happy. Why is there so much sacrificed in the name of suffering for your art, when life is so short, besides its comedy, not poetry.
